Try-Outs:This year along with a new attitude came the tryout for
the equestrian team. We managed to get through the tedious job trying
out for different aspects of the sport. Speeding around barrels,
jumping over verticals set way back in tight corners and just showing
what we have to offer was the agenda for the day. Finally as we pulled
away and it was over without incident we managed a smile as we waited
to see exactly where we would be placed and needed in this years team.

We would like to say GOODBYE to Steve Bierstetel who passed away in
July of this year. Mr. Bierstetel was our Athletic Director in Fowlerville.
The sudden death of Mr. Bierstetel age 33 was shocking and left us feeling
sad. He will be remembered in our prayers.
Scott Casteele is Fowlerville's new athletic director. Mr. Casteele
a 1995 graduate of Albion College, a starter on the college's 1994 NCAA
Division III Champion football team, coached JV for three years and was
assistant football coach for Albion College. He holds a master's in
education leadership from Western Michigan University. Mr. Casteele was a
four-year letter winner in football and track while at Albion College not to
mention he was Captain of the 1994 football team and was named ALL-MIAA in
football and track, with a 40-3 team record as a player. We were
honored to meet Mr. Casteele during the Meet the Glad evening last Tuesday,
August 20th,2002.
Speaking of Meet the Glad's. The annual gathering took place in the
Gym of the Fowlerville High School. A great group gathered to meet the
Gladiators and coaches that represent the new teams for the 2002-2003 school
year. We were last but not least when it came to introductions. Our coaches
Amber and Megan introduced us and without fault we stood proud and willing
to set an example of what is expected in us for athletics in representing
not only a school but a town.
